This week we join the nation in commemorating Remembrance Sunday in memory of those who have given their lives and in support of anyone affected by military service and action.

First hour – Kirsty and Mike from the Surrey History Centre explore artefacts telling the stories of local soldiers who fought in the Great War of 1914-1918. The Surrey History Centre’s project “Surrey in the Great War” has been set up to enable everyone to get involved in discovering the stories of families, community groups, towns, villages, schools and places of work.

Second hour – Roy Selstrom is co-founder of Surrey Heath Veterans and Families Listening Project which was set up to support veterans as they make the transition into ‘Civvy Street’.

Third hour – Brian Smith joins us to consider the Great War poets and others who have written about war. Included will be Wilfred Owens, Rupert Brooke, Siegfried Sassoon, Philip Larkin and Henry Reed.
